Having stayed many times before, and found them very welcoming, I was about to book a stay at the Old Mill House, but discovered to my dismay that they are closed. I was so surprised, however, to see someone called Andree had left a rather negative review. Strange as they have been closed since August apparently. I just wondered if it had any connection with a repeat showing of Four in a Bed recently . . .
Having run a B&B, and stayed in some too, I found this one Rubbish! I've given it two stars for the garden and the river, but otherwise the welcome is "How nice to see you" - and phoney! Their response to negative reviews is to boast about how they were on television. However, everything about them rings false. Angels, Feng Shui, 'areas-of-good-energies' are everywhere - but the overall feeling is of phoniness. Look behind the front they put on; because it is just that - a front; and not very pleasant.Absolute minimum effort on their part - their breakfast is a (not funny) joke: nothing cooked, for the same price you pay elsewhere for a decent breakfast, just a choice of mueslis and breads, and it's Get-it-yourself (they're busy doing things for themselves in the garden or house etc).Minimum service after the initial (ingratiating) welcome, then left to your own devices while we rake it in, looking after our own interests thank (and thanks to) you! A pity because it could be wonderful place to stay given proper, genuine and caring B&B service.
Excellent place to stay with the best hosts we've experienced. Helpful, generous and friendly, they go way above and beyond what you expect from an Airbnb. Strongly recommended.
What can I say. I have stayed in many places in my time but never have I met such wonderful hosts who offer a fantastic B&B and experience. We will be back in October. Counting the days down from now. So looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Fiona and Malcolm you are Ace! X
Delightful! My stay at the old mill was delightful. The hosts most helpful and very welcoming. I slept like Mrs van Winkel with the sounds of the tumbling waters of the mill and the comfortable bed. Its like a secret garden; from the outside you have no idea of the treasures within. Ill definitely return and recommend it. Thank you. Sincerely, Cheryl.
